On Pixelmator Pro

Four months ago, Apple finished its acquisition of the Pixelmator Team. Just yesterday, they released their first big update after the acquisition: version 3.7. This update adds support for Apple Intelligence, including features like Image Playground and Writing Tools. I don’t really like generative AI in general, but it is what it is. It does seem that Apple is slapping Apple Intelligence on everything they can.

I’m pretty confident the acquisition will bring better features because the Pixelmator Team has the entire might of Apple behind them. You should consider that Logic Pro was originally developed by Emagic before they were acquired by Apple, and has now become one of the top DAWs.

I really hope that the full version of Photomator is going to become free and become like iMovie or GarageBand: a free version of its Apple Pro equivalent.

Another thing I’m thinking about is what’s going to happen to the Developer Responses to reviews of Pixelmator Pro in the App Store. Apple never responds to user reviews of their apps. Will the team be barred from responding to reviews? Will the current responses get removed to stay consistent? I’m not sure.

Anyway, I personally think this acqusition is welcome and really hope that Pixelmator does not increase in price, because $50 is incredibly good for such powerful software.
