A 'Would you rather'

Would you rather live an eighty-year life where the first sixty years are hardship and the last twenty years are bliss, or live a forty-year life where the first twenty years are hardship and the last twenty years are bliss?

I’ve asked some relatives this, and I’ve gotten mixed responses. I’d like to know what you think.
